Bhargava CN
Bhargava CN is an entomologist with specialized knowledge in the field of molecular entomology.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), GKVK, Bengaluru. He then pursued his Master’s in Entomology at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, where he focused on managing sugarcane pests.
Returning to UAS, GKVK, Bengaluru for his Ph.D., he collaborated with the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru, to pursue research on CRISPR/Cas9 mediated genome editing of agriculturally important insects. His doctoral work focused on validating gene targets for the Precision-Guided Sterile Insect Technique (pgSIT) using RNP complexes in pests such as Leucinodes orbonalis, Spodoptera frugiperda and Bactrocera dorsalis. Specifically, he investigated genes associated with sex determination and spermatogenesis to develop strategies for pest management. Additionally, he has expertise in insect DNA barcoding and RNA interference studies.
The revolutionary capabilities of genome editing technology and its extensive applications across diverse sectors, particularly within the healthcare industry brought him to CrisprBits.
